Civil Services Exam 2024: UPSC Civil Services Examination(CSE) Notification Released – 1056 Vacancies

Civil Services Exam 2024: Civil Services (Prelims) – 2024 notification was released by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Wednesday (February 14). Through this, the vacancies in the civil services departments under the Central Government will be filled. The application process will continue from February 14 to March 5. From March 6 to 12, an opportunity will be provided for amendment of applications. Any degree qualified candidates are eligible to apply. Prelims exam will be conducted on May 26.

As many as 10 lakh candidates across the country compete for the prestigious civil services exams every year. Last year notification was released for 1105 posts, this year notification was issued for filling 1056 posts. Out of these 40 posts have been allotted to the disabled. For the rest of the vacancies reservation will be applicable as per Govt. Candidates will be selected through written examination of prelims and mains. Civil services exam is given maximum 6 times only. OBC and Divyangulaka have 9 chances. And SC and ST candidates are eligible to write the exam any number of times.

Eligibility

Any degree should be passed. Candidates appearing for final year of degree can also apply. The degree should be passed by the time of mains exams.

Age Limit

Should be between 21 – 32 years as on 01.08.2024. Should have born between 02.08.1991 – 01.08.2002. Age relaxation is 5 years for SC and ST and 10 years for disabled.

Civil Services Exam Fee

Rs.100. SC, ST, Divyang (Benchmark Disabilities), Female candidates need not pay fee.

Selection Process

There will be three stages of selection process. Selection will be done through Prelims, Mains, Interview.

Exam Pattern

Prelims Exam Pattern:
Civil Services Prelims Exam will be conducted for total 400 marks. There are two papers in the preliminary examination. Each paper is allotted 200 marks. In both the papers the questions will be objective type multiple choice. The second paper will be General Studies qualifying paper. 33 percent of which has to be qualified. There will also be negative marking. Candidates who qualify in prelims will be allowed to write mains. These exams are held in two sessions, morning and afternoon. Questions will be in Hindi and English medium.

Mains Exam Pattern:
UPSC Main Exams will be conducted for a total of 1750 marks. There will be a personality test (interview) for 275 marks. These two together will be the final selection of 2025 marks. There will be total 7 papers in the exam. Each paper is allotted 250 marks. But in these there are qualifying papers (Paper-A, Paper-B) of 300 marks per paper. These marks will not be considered.
