UPSC CDSE II 2024

Combined DEFENCE SERVICES EXAMINATION (II), 2024: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the Combined Defense Services (CDS) Examination (II)-2024 notification on May 15. Through this, 459 vacancies will be filled up in the Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officers’ Training Academy. Candidates with a degree or equivalent qualification can apply for these posts. Candidates will be selected on the basis of written test intelligence and personality test and interview. Eligible candidates can submit their applications online from May 15 to June 4. After that, the last date for revision of applications will be from June 5 to June 11. The CDS-II exam will be conducted on September 1 for those who have applied.

Eligibility

For military academy posts, the candidate should have a degree. For naval academy posts, there should be an engineering degree. There should be a degree or engineering degree to fill the air force academy posts. Physics and Mathematics should be studied at the intermediate level. Women are eligible only for OTA SSC non-technical posts. Those who appeared for the final year exams can also apply.

Age Limit

For CDSE II 2024, Candidates should be below 25 years of age for military academy and naval academy posts. Must have been born between 02.07.2001 – 01.07.2006.
Air Force Academy should be between 20-24 years of age as on 01.07.2025. Candidates should have been born between 02.07.2001 – 01.07.2005.

Application Fee

No Fee for women, SCs and STs. The rest have to pay Rs 200 for CDSE II 2024 exam

Selection Process

The selection process for CDSE II 2024 will be in two phases. In the first phase, candidates will be selected on the basis of written test, interview for intelligence and personality test, interview, medical test etc.

Examination Procedure

There will be questions in English, General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics sections for a total of 300 marks at the rate of 100 per paper. The duration for each paper is 2 hours. Those who have applied for the posts of Officers Training Academy (OTA) are not required to write maths paper.

Interview Procedure

300 marks have been allotted for the interview section. For those who have applied only for the OTA posts, it will be for 200 marks. The interview consists of two phases. If successful, medical tests will be conducted and the training will be conducted on the basis of merit of the exam and interview marks.

Training Details

Candidates will get an opportunity in any of these places like Army, Navy, Air Force, OTA as per their preference and merit. Those selected for the Military Academy will be trained at the Indian Military Academy Dehradun. Those who have joined the Naval Academy will be trained at Ezhimala in Kerala. Pilot training for those selected for air force academy will be in Hyderabad. Those selected for officers’ training academy posts will participate in the training in Chennai. Those who have completed their training will start their career with the rank of Lieutenant in the Army, OTA, Sub Lieutenant in the Navy and Flying Officer in the Air Force.
