SSC Constable GD Examination – 2024 announcement came from Staff Selection Commission. SSC is set to conduct an open competitive examination for the recruitment of Constables (General Duty) in various forces, including the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Secretariat Security Force (SSF), and Rifleman (General Duty) in Assam Rifles (AR). Interested and eligible candidates can submit their applications online on the SSC official website, https://ssc.nic.in/, starting from November 24, 2023, until December 31, 2023.

The recruitment process will consist of Computer Based Examination (CBE), Physical Standard Test (PST), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Medical Examination, and Document Verification. The key features of the recruitment process as below

Applications will be accepted through on-line mode only. The Commission will conduct the Computer Based Examination (CBE) in English, Hindi, and 13 Regional Languages, including Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

The CAPFs will organize the Physical Standard Test (PST), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Detailed Medical Examination (DME), and Review Medical Examination (RME). During the Detailed Medical Examination (DME), the CAPFs will collect necessary eligibility certificates/documents from candidates for verification.

Vacancies for Constable (GD) in SSF will be filled on an All India basis. For vacancies in other CAPFs, they will be filled based on availability in different States/UTs. Some vacancies are also reserved for Border Guarding Districts and Militancy/Naxal affected Districts, exclusively for candidates from these districts

Educational Qualifications (As on 01-01-2024)

  • The candidates must have passed Matriculation or 10th Class Examination

Nationality/ Citizenship

Candidate must be a citizen of India. Vacancies in CAPFs & AR are State/ UT/ area wise hence a candidate must submit domicile/ PRC against his state/ UT.

Age Limit for SSC Constable GD

18-23 years as on 01-01-2024. Candidates should not have been born earlier than 02-01-2001 and later than 01-01-2006 in normal course

Permissible relaxations in upper age limit for different categories are as below

  • SC/ ST : 5 years
  • OBC  : 3 years
  • Ex-Servicemen : 3 years after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age as on the date of reckoning.
  • Children and dependent of victims killed in the 1984 riots or communal riots of 2002 in Gujarat (Unreserved/ EWS) : 5 years
  • Children and dependent of victims killed in the 1984 riots or communal riots of 2002 in Gujarat (OBC) : 8 years
  • Children and dependent of victims killed in the 1984 riots or communal riots of 2002 in Gujarat (SC/ ST) : 10 Years

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted in online mode at the official website of the Commission i.e. https://ssc.nic.in. The process of filling online application for the examination consists of two parts:

Examination Fee

  • Fee payable: Rs 100/- (Rs One hundred only).
  • Women candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Ex-servicemen (ESM) eligible for reservation are exempted from payment of fee.
  • Fee can be paid online through BHIM UPI, Net Banking, by using Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, RuPay Credit or Debit cards.
  • Fee can be paid by the candidates up to 01-01-2024 (2300 Hours) through online mode only. There will be no option to pay fee through any other mode.

Application Form Corrections

  • Window for Application Form Correction : 04-01-2024 to 06-01-2024 (23:00 hours)
  • After the closing date Commission will provide a period of 3 days to enable candidates to correct/ modify application. Candidates will be allowed to re-submit applications after making changes. A candidate can correct only two times during this time period.
  • ₹ 200/- for making correction(s) and re-submitting application for the first time. ₹ 500/- for making correction(s) and re-submitting application for the second time. The correction charges will be applicable to all candidates irrespective of their gender/ category.
